Thank you for checking out Ryan W. Gano’s clinical blog examining psychotherapy and counseling. I practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Orlando, Florida and I am passionate about psychology and mental health. I am also licensed as an LMFT in Texas, as I previously maintained a practice in San Antonio, TX.
My posts draw from my experience in private practice, hospital inpatient psychiatric and pediatric intensive care (PICU) settings. I am particularly interested in exploring psycho-dynamic theory, spirituality in mental health, and practically applying attachment theory with my clients and patients.
I would say that my primary therapeutic influences include: John Bowlby, Heinz Kohut, Michael Franz Basch, Susan Johnson, Irvin Yalom, Rollo May, Mario Mikulincer, and Phillip R. Shaver. Regarding spirituality, I find Henri Nouwen, Soren Kierkegaard, Richard Foster, Tim Keller, and reformed theology quite inspirational.
In private practice I specialize in working with couples and their relationship problems, families in distress and individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma and bipolar disorder.
